Greater Baton Rouge Community Tennis Association is seeking applicants for a part-time Executive Director.

JOB TITLE: Executive Director 

SUPERVISOR: GBRCTA President 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The ideal person would be a flexible self-starter with a “CAN DO” attitude who loves tennis, recognizes customer service as a top priority, is familiar with the USTA organizational structure and programs, and understands the purpose of a Community Tennis Association (CTA). The candidate selected will oversee GBRCTA operations on behalf of the volunteer Board of Directors. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • College preferred or equivalent work experience with at least five (5) years of tennis experience (tournaments, leagues, instruction, CTA service etc.) 

  • Experience in leadership and management including supervising others 

  • Evidence of effective interaction and communication with a variety of organizations and individuals 

  • Ability to recognize problems, identify alternatives, and implement solutions 

  • Computer Skills (email, Word, Excel, tournament-related systems, web-based applications, social media) 

  • Able to pass USTA National Safe Play and/or GBRCTA background check 

  • Demonstrated creativity 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Maintain the integrity of the GBRCTA in conjunction with the Mission Statement as defined by the Board of Directors 
2. Assist the Board in planning and goal setting 
3. Assist with event planning and management, including mixers, USTA tennis initiatives, league needs, etc 
4. Adhere to GBRCTA Policies & Procedures established by the Board of Directors 
5. Provide Administrative support 

  • Routine communications (phone/text, email, mail) 

  • Manage and update content for www.batonrougetennis.com, including on-line calendar and MailChimp email platform 

  • Maintain Facebook and other social media sites 

  • Maintain Federal and state regulatory requirements in conjunction with Treasurer 

6. Provide Board support 

  • Prepare documents for all Board meetings with the Executive Board 

  • Publish and secure meeting location 

  • Participate in Board and committee meetings 

  • Follow up on all action items from Board meeting with Directors 

  • Learn all committee processes and expectations 

  • Create detailed Policy and Procedure Manual of major events (tournaments, mixers, special events) 

7. Provide Support/Supervisory 

  • Give direction and work closely with contracted Tennis Directors and instructors who provide tennis programming 

  • Organize and manage special events and tournaments with Board of Directors 

  • Implement Board-approved activities 

8. Community Outreach/Relationship Management 

  • Serve as spokesperson for all Public Relations requests/ face-to-the customer for GBRCTA 

  • Serve as liaison/primary contact to outside agencies (i.e., USTA, USTA Louisiana, BREC, teaching pros, League coordinators) 

9. Volunteer Management and Recruitment 

  • Assist with the Recruitment and management of volunteers for GBRCTA events 

10. Any duties not listed, but needed by the Board of Directors 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS 

Independent Contractor – part-time (average 20-25 hours/week) 

BENEFITS 

$20-$30/hr Depending on Experience
